Crossroads Care Center in Auburn Hills runs entirely on donations and charges nothing for any service: testing, treatment, or education. Zero Cost Across Every Service Offered
For anyone managing care without insurance or paying entirely out of pocket, Crossroads charges nothing. Not for the test, not for treatment, not for counseling. Donation-funded and free by design, it's the clinic for someone whose budget can't absorb a co-pay or a lab bill at any stage of care.
Spanish-Language Care, Not Interpretation Patchwork
Spanish speakers who need to discuss symptoms, treatment options, or prevention strategies directly, without filtering through a second party, get that at Crossroads. For someone whose primary language is Spanish and who wants to reason through their care in full, the staff delivers the conversation natively.
Herpes Testing Included in the Standard Panel
For anyone who wants herpes screening alongside the core bacterial and viral workup, Crossroads tests for it in the same appointment. That matters most for someone without a regular provider who needs a genuinely complete picture: gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, HIV, and herpes, all at no cost.
Corewell Health in Royal Oak operates on a sliding-scale fee structure and accepts both Medicaid and private insurance, covering the full panel: gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, rapid HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and TB. Appointments are required.

PrEP Is Prescribed and Monitored Here
Both PrEP and PEP are prescribed and managed directly at Corewell Health: meaning the prescribing clinician also handles the baseline labs, follow-up HIV tests, and kidney function monitoring that PrEP requires. The ongoing relationship stays in one clinical setting rather than bouncing between a prescriber and an outside lab.
Hepatitis C Treatment, Not Just a Positive Result
Many STI clinics confirm a hepatitis C antibody and leave patients to locate a specialist on their own. Corewell Health in Royal Oak carries treatment through to completion on-site, so a reactive result moves directly into a care plan without a separate specialist search.
Hepatitis B and C Testing Closes the Gap
Skipping hepatitis B and C from an STI panel doesn't mean those infections aren't present, it means they stay undetected and unmanaged while everything else gets treated. Corewell Health tests for both alongside gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV, so a single visit doesn't leave a parallel infection unchecked.

Language Support Wired Into Every Appointment
When language access isn't available at the point of care, test results go unexplained, treatment instructions don't land, and follow-up falls apart. Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care in Berkley has interpretation services in place so that the clinical conversation (exposure context, results, treatment) happens fully, not in fragments.
Herpes and Hepatitis Tested Alongside the Core Panel
Leaving herpes or hepatitis off a panel means a second visit to a second provider, and the time, cost, and coordination that come with it. Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care in Berkley tests for herpes and hepatitis A, B, and C alongside the standard bacterial and HIV screen, closing those gaps in a single visit.

PrEP and PEP Managed Without the Extra Step
When prevention requires a prescription, whether PrEP for ongoing protection or PEP after an exposure, waiting on an outside referral can mean days without coverage or a second co-pay. Osteopathic Health Care Associates prescribes and manages both, keeping that gap from opening in the first place.
Herpes and Hepatitis Included in Every Panel
Osteopathic Health Care Associates tests for herpes and hepatitis A, B, and C alongside the bacterial and HIV screen, which means infections that often go undetected on a narrower panel get caught early enough to treat or manage before complications develop.
Oakland County Health Division in Southfield tests for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, hepatitis A, hepatitis C, HIV, and TB, treating bacterial STIs the same visit, with rapid and conventional HIV options. Fees run on a sliding scale, insurance and Medicaid accepted, no appointment needed.

Language Access Built Into the Appointment Itself
Walk-in STI care commonly leaves non-English speakers to manage on their own once the basics are covered. Oakland County Health Division in Southfield has interpretation services built into the visit, so the conversation about exposure, prevention, and next steps happens in the language that actually carries nuance.
Three Prevention Drugs Available at One Address
Oakland County Health Division in Southfield prescribes PrEP for ongoing HIV prevention, PEP for post-exposure management, and DoxyPEP, the bacterial STI prophylaxis taken after potential exposure, making it one of the few county health settings where all three prevention-medication tracks are staffed and dispensable. Uninsured patients have a dedicated PrEP access pathway.
Hepatitis C Diagnosed and Treated at the Same Clinic
Many testing sites identify a hepatitis C infection and leave patients to find a specialist for what comes next. Oakland County Health Division in Southfield carries hepatitis C through to treatment on-site, so a positive result doesn't open a separate clinical odyssey.

Interpretation Services Woven Into Every Appointment
Interpretation services are available for non-English-speaking patients at Planned Parenthood of Michigan in Warren, which means clinical conversations (exposure history, treatment instructions, medication timing) happen in the language a patient speaks, not around it.
Title X Means Minors Have Legally Confidential Care
As a Title X-funded clinic, Planned Parenthood of Michigan in Warren provides legally confidential family planning and STI services to minors. A federal protection that keeps sensitive care private regardless of a young person's insurance or household situation.
PrEP and PEP Prescribed Where You Already Test
Many testing-only clinics stop at the result and leave prevention medication to a separate provider. Planned Parenthood of Michigan in Warren prescribes both PrEP and PEP on-site, keeping HIV prevention in the same hands as the test itself.

The Wellness Plan Medical Centers in Pontiac runs on a sliding-scale fee structure open to everyone, with insurance also accepted; the full panel covers HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, hepatitis A, B, and C, and TB: by appointment, with same-visit treatment for bacterial STIs and PrEP and PEP on offer.

Herpes and Hepatitis A, B, C All Tested Here
The Wellness Plan runs bloodwork for herpes and all three hepatitis strains alongside the core bacterial panel. That broader scope means a single appointment surfaces infections that a narrower panel would simply miss, rather than sending a patient elsewhere for follow-up testing.
Hepatitis C treatment is delivered on-site at The Wellness Plan, not handed off after a positive antibody result. That continuity keeps a patient's care coordinated under the same providers who ran the initial test, shortening the path from diagnosis to a cleared infection.
Prevention Prescriptions Go Beyond the Test
Many STI clinics test and treat but stop short of prescribing HIV-prevention medication. The Wellness Plan both initiates PrEP for ongoing prevention and manages PEP, so the full range of pharmaceutical HIV-prevention tools is available from the same clinical team handling the rest of a patient's sexual-health care.

Zero-Cost Care for Anyone Paying Cash
Whether you carry insurance or not, every test and every treatment at Macomb County Health Department costs nothing out of pocket. For someone without a regular provider, or anyone managing expenses tightly, that means gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia treatment are covered the same day, no bill waiting afterward.
Language Access Beyond a Posted Number
Many clinics handle non-English speakers with a workaround that leaves the conversation thin. Macomb County Health Department has interpretation services woven directly into care, so counseling, test results, and prevention education land with full clarity rather than through a stripped-down exchange.
Title X Keeps Minor Care Confidential Here
Without Title X coverage, a minor seeking STI care or family planning often faces a second appointment, a gap in treatment, or a bill routed to a parent's insurance. At Macomb County Health Department, Title X legally protects the confidentiality of those services for minors. Closing that gap at the first visit.
Beyond the dedicated testing centers above: at-home kits by mail, hospital labs certified for STI testing, local clinicians who can order a panel during a regular visit, pharmacies for self-test kits and prescriptions, and online PrEP & treatment.
The nearest testing center is about 3 miles away; if you'd rather skip the trip, an at-home kit ships to Troy, you collect the sample privately, and mail it back to a CLIA-certified lab. Results come online in days, with a clinician available if anything is positive. Same labs as a clinic, no waiting room, and you can read how accurate at-home STD tests are before you order.
Want a free option first? The CDC-supported TakeMeHome (opens in a new tab) program mails free at-home HIV self-test kits, and, in many areas, free STI kits, to your door, with no insurance or payment needed. The paid kits below add broader panels and faster turnaround.

Reading these numbers: reported case rates only count infections that were actually tested for and diagnosed, so they track local screening effort as much as true spread: a higher rate can reflect more testing, a lower one less. Either way, most STIs cause no symptoms, so treat the figures above as context rather than a verdict, and test on the CDC's schedule regardless of how your area looks.

Pregnant or planning to be?
Congenital syphilis is the fastest-rising STI: what to test, and when
Congenital syphilis, passed from parent to baby in pregnancy, is the fastest-rising STI in the country. U.S. cases climbed from 2,163 in 2020 to 3,882 in 2023. It is almost entirely preventable: the CDC recommends a syphilis test at the first prenatal visit, and every clinic and lab listed for Oakland County tests for syphilis.

Troy leans heavily toward homeownership, nearly three-quarters of households hold a mortgage or title, which says something real about who lives here and what their lives look like. Stable residency, dual-income households, family-sized homes stretching toward Martin Farms and Homestead Acres: this is a city of people with roots, schedules, and competing obligations. The quarter who rent, often younger adults still figuring out where to land, face a monthly cost that leaves little cushion for healthcare that feels optional. That's exactly the tension for people in their late teens and twenties navigating relationships and routines that shift faster than their appointments do. Troy has no real pedestrian infrastructure: getting anywhere means getting in a car, whether you're heading up South Rochester Road or cutting across East Big Beaver Road to a clinic after work.
With most working-age residents in the labor force and unemployment low, the city runs on packed calendars. Screening tends to get scheduled around everything else, which is why having local options matters: the difference between a Tuesday slot that works and a Tuesday that doesn't is usually just which clinic you know to call. More than half of Troy households clear six figures, but income doesn't automatically translate to proactive care. It mostly means time is the scarcer resource, and a conveniently located option near Boulan Park or along the I-75 corridor is what actually moves testing from intention to done before the week closes.

Confidentiality & consent in Michigan
Minor consent and partner treatment (EPT) under state law, plus how to test privately
Two things that actually depend on Michigan law: who can consent, and whether partners can be treated without their own visit. Everything else about testing privately is the same nationwide (see below).
Can a minor consent on their own?
In Michigan, a minor of any age can consent to confidential STI testing and treatment on their own, no parental permission is required.
Can my partner be treated too? (EPT)
Michigan permits Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT): if you test positive for chlamydia or gonorrhea, your provider can give you medication (or a prescription) to pass to your partner, no separate exam or appointment needed for them.
Keeping a test private works the same in every state. Whether an STD test shows on insurance (the EOB), how to test anonymously, and self-pay options that leave no insurance trail don’t change by location.
